December 14, 2021 0 comments Dr. Marston Thomas, PhD, JP Categories Updates

MOSA Manchester Chapter has been somewhat inactive since March 2020, due to COVID 19 Pandemic. We, however, have kept in touch with members via WhatsApp and telephone calls.

In collaboration with MOSA CENTRAL EXECUTIVE, on Dec.13th 2020, using the ZOOM platform, we honoured five of our members who are over 90 years old.

MICO Alumni Manchester: Member Age
Vernal Newman 95
Leo Gooden 92
Herbert L. Brown 91
Caswell Burton 90
Rudolph L. Brown 90

A group from the Chapter, led by President Elroy Ricketts visited each honouree’s home where presentation of a plaque, was made to each of the nonagenarian.

Recipients are enjoying relatively good health. They expressed their delight and appreciation in being recognized and honoured.

Other scheduled plans have been put on hold, however in the meantime we have been identifying other Miconians in the Parish to have them registered with the Chapter. To date, we have registered twelve (12) new members bringing the membership to thirty seven (37).

On March 15th 2021 the Chapter held its first Virtual Meeting. The main item was a Presentation by MOSA IPP, Dr. Merrit Henry, who reviewed;

        1. Mico Week activities.
        2. MOSA International Plans.
        3. MOSA’s 100 years Anniversary.
        4. MICO’S 185TH Anniversary.

Mr. Percival Simpson, Chapter Treasurer, also updated the Meeting on the status of the Chapter’s finances and commitments.

We hope to continue using the ZOOM Platform for Meetings. Next Meeting is scheduled for April 12, 2021.

We look forward to the resurgence of our Chapter in the months ahead as we engage members in scheduled activities.

Best wishes to Miconians everywhere, as we all endeavour to keep safe and obey all COVID 19 PROTOCOLS.

President, MOSA Manchester
